The Starting Point

When I was a child, I acted as a child, inspoke as a cold, and I dreamed like a child. As we grow older we are suppose to mature and grow in ourselves and our relationships. We put away our childish things and see the world as it truely is; or so we believe.
As children we generally see no bad in the world. It is a big happy place where we can be with the ones we love and nothing goes wrong. We have big hopes and dreams for ourselves. We are so young and everyone around us says the world can be ours, it is ours for the taking. They feel our heads with thoughts that we can do anything if we just put our minds to it. Well guess what….they were correct.
What changes as we grow older? Some people call it growing more wise or more mature. But yet in this process our hopes and our dreams seem to fade away. What makes us change our thoughts? Why do we lose all our ambitions as we become older?
A part of me believes it is because we see the world for what it truely is. A cold place where people will do anything for power, money, or fame. Another part of me believes it is because all of the negativity we hear. But why is it that some people never lose their dreams? Food for thought I suppose.
